bos Once upon a time in the twentieth century - notably the 'teens—the Boston Red Sox were perennial contenders and frequent pennant and World Series winners. That was before "The Curse" before they let go of the Babe. In 1915, the Red Sox picked up where Connie Mack's disbanding Athletics left off - as the best team in the American League. Boston had already won a pennant and World Series in 1912, in the middle of Philadelphia's four pennants in five years, and would go on to win pennants and World Series in 1915, 1916, and 1918.
